  • Mobile Accessibility, Challenges, and Best Practices

    In this session we provide an overview on the current state of accessibility of mobile applications. We will also demonstrate some of the accessibility/usability challenges. Using templates from the iPhone Developer Environment; Dashcode, we model techniques for making mobile apps more accessible and useful to all users.

  • Developing an Illinois Mobile Computing Strategy

    Contributors from across campus are beginning to shape a new mobile computing strategy (http://www.cio.illinois.edu/Mobile_Computing_White_Paper). Mona Heath will provide an update on progress so far, but most of the session will be devoted to brainstorming about what the strategy should include and ways people developing mobile apps and mobile-friendly websites can share expertise.

    The ATLAS Moodle service includes consulting, live-online help, a ticket system, workshops/trainings, drop-in office hours, and an online help website featuring articles on common questions. Our customer service model and approaches have changed over time as our user community has grown dramatically over the years. We will discuss our various methods and the challenges they help to manage.

  • Accessibility 101 for Content Creators

    What should every content creator know about the accessibility of materials they use for instruction? Presenters will demonstrate the major accessibility problems with instructional materials people with disabilities using assistive technologies such as screen readers are facing. Attendees will learn how content like web pages, Word and PDF documents can be made more accessible/usable for everyone, including people with disabilities.

  • AD Course Rosters and You

    Join members of the Moodle community and CITES to learn about the CITES AD Rosters and how they're being used. We'll cover a practical application of the service used to automate roster and group management in several Moodle sites on campus and talk about some of the hurdles encountered along the way. You'll also hear about the changes coming in version 3 of AD rosters to be released over Christmas break and what steps you need to take to gain access to course rosters in AD.

Award-winning UIUC instructor, Eric Snodgrass, and his team will discuss how developing multimedia curriculum materials for online education transformed his views on teaching and enhanced his popular course, Atmospheric Science 120, on and off campus.

  • Campus IT Governance Update

  • Data Management Planning services for researchers at Illinois

    The National Science Foundation, and other funding agencies, now require all grant proposals to include a data management plan (DMP). We will talk about efforts to provide guidance and resources for creating DMPs: DMPTool , a flexible online tool to help researchers generate DMPs, and a Scholarly Commons website and services focused on data management and DMPs.

    Learn about FAE 2.0 and Accessibility Inspector for Firefox open source web accessibility evaluation and inspection tools. The next generation tools provide the capability to analyze Web 2.0 technologies for accessibility features and use the industry standard OpenAjax rule set for WCAG 2.0 evaluation to support the latest accessibility features of Accessible Rich Internet Application (ARIA) technologies and HTML5.

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM) - Fall 2011

    The IAM team has completed the IAM product selections. There were two products selected to address the 'Identity Provisioning and Administration' and 'Access Management' needs. The first product includes workflow technology to manage access requests, account provisioning, compliance process, role and profile, and passwords. The Access Management product provides an enterprise wide authentication, Single Sign-On (SSO), federation, and some level of authorization. The implementation of both products will allow the University to simplify the management of identity and streamline access to identity data by enterprise as well as departmental applications. At this presentation the team will discuss the project governance structure, staffing, and timeline.
